Hoh River side

Water in a channel flowing up on rocks then back around to form an ellipse with a large arc flowing backward relative to the main directional flow of the river. What percentage of water molecules are flowing opposite to the main direction in the river? 10%? 20%? Rocks in the streambed cause a wave above that continually splashes down causing whitewater to eject backwards tonthe main flow direction.
